What areas do you service?
We are headquartered in Kawaihae and service all areas of the Big Island of Hawaii.
How long will my move take?
This depends on a number of factors such as size of your home or office, the amount of inventory and goods you have, if you will be packing in advance or if you would like us to pack for you, access to inventory and goods (i.e. elevators or stairs, steep driveways, parking access, proximity of entrances to our truck, etc.). Good communication during the initial booking process to make us aware of the specific circumstances we will find on moving day will lead to more accurate time and equipment assessments and a better experience for all.
How much will my move cost?
The cost for each move is based on the time, labor, equipment and materials required. The time is calculated from the time our crew leaves our facility until the time they return to our facility. Time is billed by the hour, with a 3 hour minimum then in 15 minute increments afterwards. The labor is based on the number of movers that are required to complete your move safely and efficiently. Larger jobs usually require a larger crew. Items weighing over 185 lbs. will require additional movers. Storage, packing and unpacking services as well as packing materials if requested are also factors.
Do you offer packing and unpacking services?
Proper packing ultimately determines how successful your move will be. Our crew will safely and efficiently pack your inventory and goods. When packing yourself you are responsible for your own packed boxes and contents. Valuation coverage will not compensate for non-carrier packed boxes. Unpacking, also known as "maid service," is also offered and we can take your boxes back immediately. Please request these services during the initial booking process as this will require additional time and materials to factor into the cost.
Do you offer storage?
Yes, we offer short term and long term secure residential and commercial storage.
Can I pre-pack my goods and have the crew load the cartons and large furniture only?
Yes, you can pre-pack your goods and have our crew load the cartons and furniture only. Please be aware that we cannot accept the liability on owner-packed cartons, therefore we suggest for any owner-packed cartons you deem sensitive or fragile you may want to move those yourself.
How will my furniture be handled during the move?
Our crew will wrap all furniture with moving blankets, stretch wrap and/or padding to protect during transit. The blankets will be secured with either stretch wrap, tape or straps to eliminate damages or scratches to your furniture. We also use cargo straps in our trucks to tie down and secure objects from shifting during transit. When we deliver your items to your destination, our crew will work closely with you to make sure all furniture and boxes arrive in the correct rooms. We will be happy to arrange and rearrange the furniture exactly as you would like it.
Do you assemble/disassemble furniture?
Standard tools are provided on every move for basic assembly and disassembly. The most common items we assemble/disassemble are beds, mirrors from dressers and legs from dining room tables and couches. Our movers can provide this service for basic household items. However if an item requires special knowledge or special tools we may not be able to service it. Please note that we provide assembly/disassembly services as a courtesy. Our movers are not specially trained for advanced assembly/disassembly and may not be able to provide this service for all items. Due to liability concerns we cannot provide assembly or disassembly for baby cribs, water beds, tanning beds, gas appliances, pool tables or pianos. If you have questions about a specific furniture item please contact us.
Do I need to empty out my dresser drawers and filing cabinets?
Loading and unloading time is reduced when your drawers and cabinets are empty. However if they are soft and lightweight, clothing may stay in the drawers. Be sure to remove anything that may roll around or shift during transit as this can cause damage.
How do I prepare my appliances for moving?
Washers, dryers, microwaves, ovens and refrigerators must be disconnected. All appliances must be emptied and completely dried out for transport. Freezers must be de-iced, defrosted and dried out for transport. Washers must be secured with manufacturer provided stabilizers. Additionally movers are not trained electricians or plumbers. You will need to arrange for the appropriate professional to connect and disconnect your appliances and lighting to and from any electric, gas and/or water connections.
What can I do to ensure that my goods end up in the correct room during the move?
Choose a simple labeling system (i.e. DR for Dining Room) and make sure that all boxes are clearly marked. Boxes should be clearly labelled on the 3 sides and marked "Top" for the top. Our crew will work closely with you at the destination to make sure everything ends up where you want it.
Do I have to pay for the packing materials?
If you need us to provide packing materials you will be billed for the actual materials used during your move.
Do the movers take time off for lunch?
Moving is a physically strenuous job and our crew need time to break and eat during the day. Any time that the movers spend eating lunch will not be included your bill.
What is valuation and what are my options?
Valuation is liability protection of your goods during transit. We offer different levels of liability protection to protect your property during a move. Basic valuation is automatically included at no charge and compensates .30 cents per pound per article.
